ECVIM-CA Cardiology Specialist

Sergio graduated from the University of Messina, Italy, in 2013. After spending 2 years in general practice, Sergio completed a 1-year rotating internship, followed by another internship in small animal cardiology at The Clinica Malpensa referral centre near Milan.

 

Following his internships, Sergio worked at a multi-disciplinary referral centre (Portoni Rossi, Bologna) for 3 years as a cardiology clinician, before moving to the United Kingdom to undergo a specialist cardiology internship program at Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists. In September 2022, Sergio started a cardiology internship at Specialist Veterinary Cardiology Consultancy and became an ECVIM-CA Resident in Cardiology in 2023.

Sergio completed his residency in February 2026 and has successfully passed all the examinations of the College. He was awarded his ECVIM diploma in Cardiology in April 2026 and he is now a recognised Specialist in Veterinary Cardiology.

Sergio likes all aspects of cardiology with a particular interest in ECG interpretation and electrophysiology, as well as management of refractory heart failure in dogs and cats.

 

Outside work, Sergio likes sports, particularly crossfit and football, cooking, wine tasting and spending a good time with his family and friends.
