Certain canine and feline breeds can be predisposed to congenital and/or acquired heart disease and many breed clubs (e.g. Boxers, Dobermans, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Newfoundlands, Bengals, Maine Coons, Ragdolls, Sphynx, etc) have already issued important recommendations for heart screening in the attempt to identify and reduce the prevalence of some heart abnormalities.
